Perplexing Introduction

I was organizing parties in Tampere and met many people in that business. Once I met a guy and introduced myself to him by my first name: “Heikki”. He answered by his name: “Heikki”. I continued with my surname: “Koivunen”, to which he answered by his surname : “Koivunen”. Our second forenames were different, though.
